DHAKA: “Walking is an excellent option to obtain desired sound health. We can be inspired by the morning joggers to make this habit.”
Bangladesh Cricket Team captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza made the remarks while inaugurating ‘Pran Drinking Water- Walkathon’ at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Friday morning (August 26).
The program was organized to collect charity for providing safe drinking water in flood affected areas of the country.
Around 1000 people participated in the event and, according to the organizers policy, same number of bottled water will be given to the flood victims.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza expressed pleasure seeing the huge participation of the people to support flood victims.
The captain also sought blessing from the crowd for their upcoming home series against England.
Bangladesh national cricket team selector and former captain Habibul Bashar was also present in the program. He confirmed about England’s visit concerning security issues.
“I would like to share the good news about England’s visit in Bangladesh and was confirmed the matter in the morning”, he added.
The main program rolled on at 8.00 am though participates of all sphere of life from across the city gathered here from 6:00am.
Claiming the first prize of the walkathon, a school teacher Haider Zahan finished the five kilometers mark. In women section, a private university student Surabhii Yasmin topped the chart.
Pran-RFL group chief operating officer Anisur Rahman, Director of Marketing Kamruzzaman Kamal, Head of Marketing Atiqur Rahman, among others, attended the prize giving ceremony.
