SME Foundation and E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-CAB) will work together to make the country's entrepreneurs smarter and more efficient in information technology to build 'Smart Bangladesh'.
An agreement in this regard has been signed between both the organisations in capital on Wednesday (May 17).
According to the agreement, the entrepreneurs will work together to accelerate the participation of the country's SME entrepreneurs in the national economy by using mutual networks for business development and business expansion.
At the same time, the two organisations will work together for the protection and development of small and medium industries of the country, the agreement said.
Managing Director of SME Foundation Md. Mofizur Rahman and E-CAB president Shomi Kaiser signed the memorandum on behalf of their respective organisations.
Professor Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman, chairperson of SME Foundation was the chief guest at the event.
SME Foundation General Manager Farzana Khan, E-CAB Women's Forum President Nazneen Nahar, Vice President Jerin Marjan Khan along with SME Foundation and E-CAB officials among others were present at the event.
E-cab president in her speech said there are 3 lakh entrepreneurs associated with e-commerce across the country. SME Foundation and E-CAB will work together from now on to accelerate entrepreneurs' contribution and make them skilled at various levels through training in information technology, digital literacy and financial literacy and to expand their business in the country and abroad.
Managing Director of SME Foundation said currently 32% of the country's working women are connected to the national economy. On the other hand, information technology excellence is creating various opportunities for development. These opportunities should be exploited.
"With this agreement, our work will accelerate more efficiently. Along with this, grassroot level entrepreneurs' engagement with information technology will increase. As a result, they will be enriched with technical skills and move ahead in business, Masudur Rahman added.
