DHAKA: Democracy International (DI) has launched a new web site under its ‘Narir Joye Shobar Joy’ (When Women Win, We All Win) campaign to increase political leadership among women in Bangladesh.
The website (www.narirjoyeshobarjoy.org) features a database of female political leaders and it will be a useful networking tool and resource for politically active women and also for political parties, civil society, media, and other stakeholders to engage directly with experienced women leaders in the country.
To date, more than 4,000 women are members of the ‘Narir Joye Shobar Joy’ network and are ready to serve in mainstream political parties in local committees and run for local and national political offices, a release on Wednesday said.
‘We are proud to be working with thousands of accomplished women leaders across the country and applaud political parties who are promoting qualified women to leadership positions,’ said Katie Croake, DI’s Director of Grassroots Programs.
The ‘Narir Joye Shobar Joy’ campaign began in 2012 as part of the Democratic Participation and Reform program (DPR) jointly funded by USAID and UK aid.
