DHAKA: A 3-day long “Robi Smartphone and Tab Expo-2014” has started at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Thursday.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the fair.
BASIS president Shamim Ahsan, Robi Executive Director (Corporate Strategy) Khaledur Rahman, Samsung Bangladesh Managing Director Chun Su Moon and Assistant General Manager of Symphony Jahedul Islam among others were present in the programme.
Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak said that there was only four percent internet in the country when Awami League assumed power and now it has reached to 24 percent. And every year 30 percent people are joining with smartphone across the globe which is very positive.
The smartphone and tablet based exhibition organized by expo maker is going to be held for the second time in Bangladesh. Avira, Nokia, Samsung and Symphony are the co-sponsors of the event.
Besides, there are ten pavilions and eight stalls with LG, ASUS, Acer, Lenovo, Flora Limited, Arcos, Ainol, Gazette Gang 7, Coby and some other brands.
The visitors will be offered special discounts and prizes on purchase of a product in the fair.
The exhibition will remain open from 10:00am to 08:00pm and there will no entry fee.
