DHAKA: Bangladesh Internet Exchange Ltd (BIEL) has shown first LTE FDD network trial to Bangladeshi telecom community and journalists.
Upon receiving BWA license and fulfilling their financial obligations, BIEL is starting LTE 4G network rollout.
BIEL started LTE trial network in Dhaka using ZTE corporation equipment and plans to continue rolling out in Dhaka and remote areas to fulfill license obligations to support Digital Bangladesh program, which will help implement Electronic Government, mobile banking initiatives and bridge digital divide in Bangladesh.
BIEL has shown a wide range of user devices from major vendors who are working in BIEL LTE network with connection speed over 100 mbps.
LTE technology is giving huge opportunities to provide user connections with the speed of more than 150 Mbps which is much higher than any existing wired and wireless connections in Bangladesh.
BIEL network is one of the first LTE networks in APAC region which is moving Bangladesh to the leading position in telecom development.

On November 21, 2013, BIEL has been granted BWA license according to BWA Guidelines by the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
