DHAKA: The government is going to provide multimedia projector and laptop including internet connections to a total of 23,331 institutions that have power connections, said an official of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.
The initiative has been taken under the “ICT for Education in Secondary and Higher Secondary Level Project.” The Directorate is implementing the project with budget of TK 305.65 crore.
The official said, launched on January 2011, the project will end by June this year, which will start a new era on internet-based education.
An official, associated with the project, told banglanews “according to the project provision, some 50 teachers were to give training on digital content creation in each batch, but 30 to 35 people were given training batch-wise considering the venues and real situations.
According to the project provision, a total of 20,500 teachers were trained against the demand for some 23,331 institutions, the official added.
To finish the project within the timeframe, a meeting on the first revision of the Divisional Project Evaluation Committee had been held recently with Education Ministry secretary Dr. Mohamamd Sadique in the chair.
At the meeting, training to 1,800 monitoring officers was proposed. There was a demand for training to an additional 2,831 teachers, it was revealed there.
At first, the target to provide multimedia projectors and laptops was set at 20,500 institutions, later 2,831 more were added as a total of 23,331 education institutions were found that have electricity connection.
The project objective is to train teachers to introduce the internet-based education with the adequate equipment.
