DHAKA: Google has launched tests for Project Loon, a network of balloons designed to provide internet service in rural and remote areas, of Brazil.
Brazil’s communications ministry said, telecompaper.com reports.
Two balloons have been launched in Piaui providing internet, thanks to a 4G connection from Vivo and Telebras and relayed from a Loon balloon to a special antenna installed on the roof of a school.
According to Google, these balloons will be the first to go a long distance in latitude near the equator.
Similar tests were performed by Google in New Zealand in 2013.
