RIYADH: State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday inaugurated the Machine Readable Passport (MRP) activities for Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia.
The minister unveiled the MRP activities at a colorful ceremony at Hotel Sheraton in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh in the evening.
The MRP will be produced and delivered through outsourcing companies.
Malaysia-based IRIS Corporation Berhad Consortium, Saudi Arabian company Quad Dimensions Tech. LLC and Computer Source Ltd of Bangladesh will jointly work under the supervision of Bangladesh Army
All Bangladeshi expatiates, living in Saudi Arab, will get their MPR by 2015, the minister added.
Bangladesh ambassador to Riyadh Shaidul Islam, chief executive officer of IRIS, MD of Quad, Home Affairs Ministry’s Security and Immigration Department Additional Secretary Shafiqul Islam, Immigration and Passport Department Director General M Abdul Mabud, MRP and MRV project director Brigadier General M Masud Rezwan, among others, were present at the function.
