Bangladesh’s prospect in billon dollars apps market

DHAKA: American information technology research and advisory firm Gartner, Inc. forecasted that the market of mobile apps would be worth about 35 billion worldwide. 

On the other hand, 90 percent mobile users in Bangladesh browse internet through their handsets and 86 percent of smartphone users use different apps.

This is why Bangladesh has as opportunity to enter the billon dollar apps market. 

It would not be too difficult to catch the market if firms produce unique apps, apps that have users’ demand and proper publicity is done.

Google’s head of agency development Bickey Russell made the observations at a seminar titled ‘Mobile App Marketing’ at the boardroom of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) in the city on Monday.

Bickey said there is a huge demand of apps development in banking and traveling sectors; Bangladeshis can pay attention to it. 

He also said Google has many tools ranging from apps building to earning from apps. Its proper use has to be known.

“It will be easy for Bangladesh to enter billion-dollar worth apps market, if the apps are built in accordance to the feedback by users,” Bickey added.

BASIS former president, Mahabub Zaman, also DataSoft Systems Bangladesh Limited chief executive, BASIS director Sany M Ashraf Khan, also MCC   Limited chief executive, Google Bangladesh country engineering consultant Dr. Khan M Anwarus Islam, among others, were present at the function.
