DHAKA: PayPal will begin accepting bitcoin as payment "over the coming months," Bill Ready of eBay's Braintree unit that runs PayPal, said on Monday.
Speaking to TechCrunch's Disrupt SF conference, Ready said incorporating bitcoin payments would offer consumers a "sleek experience," reports Circa News.
Earlier on April, 2013, John Donahoe eBay CEO predicted virtual currencies will be more widely accepted within 5 years.
He said, “It's a new disruptive technology, so, yeah, we're looking at bitcoin closely. There may be ways to enable it inside PayPal".
PayPal isn't the first money-sending service to consider integrating bitcoin.
Western Union and MoneyGram earlier said they're looking into the digital currency.
The US Treasury Department said in March that it will begin regulating virtual currencies like money orders.
