Sky will fully launch its 3D channel on October 1 but will only be available to those with the Sky+ HD package and a 3D-enabled television.
The station has been live since April 3, but other than six Premier League football matches, has only been playing promotional snippets of 3D footage. Football fans on April 3 enjoying the the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea in 3D at over a thousand pubs and clubs across the UK and Ireland.
The launch weekend highlights will include three days of live Ryder Cup coverage and two 3D films, Bolt and Monster vs Aliens.
The Premier League will also be shown from launch, along with other live sport. However, the company declined to provide any more detail of the channel’s content at this stage, only saying “further shows spanning entertainment and the arts will be announced closer to the service’s launch.
