Thiruvananthapuram-based Technopark, the largest IT Park in India with 4.5 million square feet of built-up area, has successfully completed 20 years of operations in Kerala. It is the first and largest technology park in India.
"Technopark has played a key role in shaping IT businesses in Kerala and is truly capitalising on its advantages and transforming itself into a silicon coast through focused initiatives in IT infrastructure development, HR development and citizen e-enablement.
Apart from these, the state is one of the few that was unfazed by the global economic slowdown and registered strong growth," Dr Ajay Kumar, IT Secretary, Government of Kerala, said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has launched a redesigned website to mark Techno-park`s 20th anniversary. The new website is comprehensive with lots of features and is expected to be more user-friendly. The Technopark website was originally introduced in 1994 and was redesigned in 2002.
By 2015 Kerala is expected to have 200,000 direct job opportunities in IT and IT-related industries and Technopark will be one top five investment destinations in India.
