Intel ‘Compute Stick’ at ICT Expo

DHAKA: Intel Bangladesh has brought the much anticipated the ‘Intel Compute Stick’ at Bangladesh ICT Expo 2015 in the city on Thursday.

The pen drive-like computer is being displayed at the stalls no. 9 and 10 of the three-day exposition at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

Intel Bangladesh channel executive Khalilul Haq told banglanews that sale of the product has already begun in markets of some developed countries. However, it is yet to lunch in Bangladesh.

Sale of the ‘Stick’ is likely to begin in Bangladesh market soon, the executive added.



The Intel Compute Stick transforms any HDMI TV or monitor into a full computer, allowing user to search the web, share photos, keep up on email or do any of the tasks that one does on computer today. Separate wireless keyboard and mouse are also required.

Built on a quad-core Intel Atom processor, the ‘Stick’ can be uses in either Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS operating system. 

The Windows version includes 2 GB memory, 32 GB of on-board storage and comes with McAfee Antivirus Plus for comprehensive protection from Trojans, viruses, spyware and more.



The Ubuntu version has 1 GB memory and 8 GB of on-board storage. Both devices come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity, a USB port to connect peripherals and a micro SD card slot for additional storage.

In developed countries, the versions of Windows 8.1 and Linux reportedly have retail prices set at $149 and $89 respectively.

However, Intel Bangladesh sale representatives could not tell anything about the prices of the ‘Stick’ in local market.

Began on Monday, curtain of the exposition is set to be closed at 9:00pm on Wednesday.
