DHAKA: Google will soon be launching a new Android One smartphone in India on July 14, and will be priced almost double the original Android One’s price.
It will be manufactured by India’s Lava International and will be priced at Rs 12,000, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The Android One 2.0 will have improved specifications and an optimised Android OS, with apps and services co-developed by Google and Lava.
The new Android One smartphone will sport a 5-inch display. It will be powered by a MediaTek SoC, along with 2GB of RAM.
Along with the changes in specification, Google is also striving to make changes in the vendor engagement of the new Android One.
It’s a known fact that the original Android One did not do too well in the Indian market, and Google thinks that the lack of its availability in retail stores is one big reason.
Therefore, this time, the new Android One will be available both online and at physical retail stores.
