DHAKA: Google’s Android Pay service will launch in the US 26 August, according to a report from Android Police.
It discovered that McDonald’s has sent its restaurants a mailing informing staff of the new payment service.
This said that Samsung Pay would start 21 August and Android Pay 26 August, reports telecompaper.com on Tuesday.
Android Police noted that 21 August was actually the day the first two handsets to support Samsung Pay (the Note 5 and S6 Edge+) launched, while Samsung said 28 September is the launch date for the payments service.
The two new mobile payment services work the same as Apple Pay at the till: customers hold their NFC smartphone to a reader and then confirm the payment on their phone.
Before payments can take place, the bank issuing the customer’s debit or credit card must confirm its integration with the smartphone app.
