DHAKA: Two popular telecommunication companies, Robi and Aircel, have decided to merge their operations in the country to become the 2nd largest operator with 4-crore subscribers.
Axiata Group Berhad (Axiata)-Indian Airtel Limited and Bangladesh Robi Axiata Limited (Robi)-Airtel Bangladesh Limited (Airtel) have signed an agreement in this regard, said a press release sent by Robi on Thursday (January 28).
According to the release, the decision of merger came after the discussion between the two operators on September 9 past year.
In the release, the companies hoped that they will be able to provide widespread networking service to its customers after the merger.
