DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated ICT Training Centre and Resource Centre for Education (UITRCE) in 125 upazilas in a bid to expand development in root level of the country.
The inauguraal program was held at Prime Minister’s Office in city on Wednesday (March 2).
Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information & Statistics (BANBEIS) initiated the establishment of UITRCE funded by EDCF, Korea.
At the ceremony, the premier said, ‘We are expanding our development works to rural people, instead of metropolitan-centric’.
‘The government has installed 5,265 digital centers. Moreover, 8,000 post offices have also turned into digital centers, which created employment opportunity’, she added.
Highlighting several development projects, taken by government, Sheikh Hasina said younger people have turned entrepreneurs after getting benefit from the development projects.
Moreover, they are creating employment opportunities for others.
Sheikh Hasina went on saying, ‘As no development will be possible without education we are putting importance on it. Students are getting books at free of cost. The rate of dropout in primary level has deceased. We are also providing assistance in university level’.
‘Information Technology is important not only for daily work but also helpful for making a corruption-free country,’ she added.
Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present at the program as special guest, with education ministry secretary Sohrab Hossain in the chair.
