DHAKA: Posts and telecommunications state minister Tarana Halim categorically said that biometrically unregistered SIMs will be permanently deactivated soon after April 30.
She made this assertion while taking part at a biometric SIM registration awareness program, organized by private telecom operator Airtel on Sunday (April 24) in city’s National Press Club area.
‘The SIMs that are not biometrically registered, will remain blocked for three hours on May 1. Later, these will be permanently deactivated shortly.’
According to the state minister, the government has taken the initiative for the betterment of people.
Posts and telecommunications secretary Fayezur Rahman Chowdhury, BTRC chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud, Airtel CEO PD Sharma, among others, attended the program.
