DHAKA: The government has extended the time for re-registering mobile SIM and RIM cards through biometric system by one month to May 31 as more than four crores users are still to be re-registered.
State Minister for Posts and Telecommunication Tarana Halim said the deadline was extended to midnight of May 31.
She came up with the announcement at a press conference at BTRC conference room on Saturday afternoon (April 30).
According to her earlier announcement, the time was supposed to be ended on April 30 midnight.
The state minister however said SIM and RIM cards which will not be biometrically re-registered by April 30 will be kept symbolically blocked for three hours on Sunday (May 1).
