DHAKA: Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said the disconnected SIMs can be activated within 450 days after biometric verification and paying fee.
The unregistered SIMs will be disconnected on Tuesday (May 31) after 11:59pm.
BTRC director (system and services) Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Zulfikar issued a notice which said the rules will also be followed to register new SIM within six months.
After passing 450 days, the telecom authorities will sell the old SIMs after giving a notification. Within 90 days of the notification, the subscribers can resume the connection registering the SIMs with biometric verification, he added.
The post and telecommunication division said as many as 10.9-crore SIMs have been registered with biometric system after starting the procedure on December 16 last year.
According to the BTRC sources, there are 131,949,000 subscribers of six operators till last April.
