CDB sues Citycell for dues

DHAKA: China Development Bank (CDB) Corporation sued Bangladesh telecom operator Citycell with the High Court (HC) to realize its dues – USD 36.6 million.

 

The single bench of Judge Syed Rifat Ahmed on Wednesday (August 17) fixed September 4 for next order in this regard.

Barrister Tanzib-ul-Alam moved for the bank and advocate Khandaker Reza-e-Rakib for Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regularity Commission (BTRC) while M Asaduzzaman moved for Citycell.

Reza-e-Rakib said, “We informed the court that Citycell has to pay us (BTRC) the dues in Tk 477.51-crore first.”

On Tuesday (August 16) Citycell users got seven more days to shift to other operator as the authorities concerned has decided in principle to cancel their license.

Earlier, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) fixed August 16 for the subscribers to shift from Citycell as the phone operator has Tk 477.51-crore due.
