DHAKA: Information and Communication Technology state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that around 6.50-crore or 40 percent people of the country use internet service.

The state minister made the disclosure while delivering speech as chief guest in APC Asia Regional Meeting 2016 in city’s BRAC Center on Saturday (October 8).

There was no 3G network just seven years back, but now people are familiar with mobile banking. However, only 10 percent women are involved in IT sector. To increase the portion of women participation here the government is providing training to them, he added.

He also said digital services have been reached in every house in 16 districts through info ladies.

Internet is now available everywhere, now awareness is needed among all and they should know about internet facilities and cyber crime.

While speaking as chief guest Association for Progressive Communications (APC) assistant executive director Chat Garcia Ramilo said the relation among the Asian countries will be boosted through this type of program and experience sharing.
