DHAKA: A workshop titled "Training of Trainers on Competency Based Skill Training under SEIP, Ministry of Finance" was hosted by TÜV SÜD Bangladesh (Pvt.) Ltd in association with Star Computer Systems Limited (SCSL).

The session was held on Wednesday (August 16) at the office of UCEP Bangladesh in Mirpur of Dhaka, aiming competency based special technical skill development.

Mohammad Kamal Hossain, Deputy Executive Project Director, SEIP Project chaired the session as Chief Guest whereas Ezhilan Neelan, Country Director of TÜV SÜD Bangladesh (Pvt.) Ltd and Rezwana Khan, Director & COO, Star Computers Systems Limited were also present as special guests. 

Among others, senior officials from SEIP (Skills for Employment Investment Program) were also present in the inauguration ceremony.

The speakers basically focused on the importance and output of this project in their precious speeches. They also emphasized on fulfilling the existing gap between the supply and demand of skilled and trained human resources.   

This ToT (Training of Trainers) project was organized on Competency Based Technical Skill Training for about 820 trainers for the training institutions administered by three ministries (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment), Industry Associations of the priority sectors (IT, RMG, Construction, Light Engineering, Shipbuilders etc), BB SME and PKSF. 

The ToT program is designed for skills training on 13 trades/occupations like Welding, Machine Shop Practice, Plumbing, Mason, CNC Machine Operation, Rod binding & Scaffolding, IT Support Service, Electrical Installation & Maintenance, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Woven Machine Operation, CAD 2D & 3D, Graphic Design and Web Design to support the NSDC secretariat and key government ministries to strengthen institutional arrangements and coordination to enable Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system to meet policy objectives within a coherent skills development framework.
