A seminar titled ‘Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and Bangladesh: Application in Business and Industry Automation’ was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Thursday (Feb 22), the first day of Software Expo 2018.
The key note paper was presented by Lafifa Zamal, chairman of Robotics and Macatronics department of University of Dhaka.
The function was attended by BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman as the chief guest. Special guests were Professor Alan Edelman of Applied Mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and President of Bangladesh Computer Association Ali Ashfaq.
Speakers observed that the present time is for fourth Industrial revolution. Again the influence and expansion of Robotics or artificial intelligence is showing presently great success in business and automation of industry. Still the conception is not correct that the robot technology will replace human in workplace.
Several analyses of artificial intelligence and robotics technology were mentioned. The main side robotics technology is human robot. Many think that the robot is a complex and expensive technology. But this a wrong idea. The inter-relation of AI and Robotics were discussed. It was concluded that if the application of AI is not effective then the robotics cannot deliver any good.
Alan Edelman said that the development of robotics technology and machine learning have become popular in the whole world. If the initiative is taken rightly then it brings good for Bangladesh. There is no scope to lag behind.
Regarding AI and robotics some speakers mentioned that in our country some organizations are working with this advance technology. However for success it requires coordination of academy and industry.
As special guest Ali Ashfaq told that the industry is run by 4.0 AI in modern world. For economic development the robotics technology has shown success. For more success there must be coordination between university and industry.
The discussants were CEO of Ventura Limited and cofounder of Euricaeuda, Rassel Hassan, digital marketing head of EBL, CEO of Priniarlab Arif Nizami and Assistant professor of NSU Dr. Lamia Iftekhar.
