DHAKA: Bangladesh has won one Champion Award and five Merit Awards at the Prestigious APICTA Awards 2018.
At Senior Student Category RAJUK Uttara Model College’s Project Feed’em has become the Champion. Besides, Bangladesh has won 5 Merit Awards in 5 Different Categories. The Merit Awardees are as follows:
1. Sindabad.com Limited’s Project Sindabad.com Limited in Cross Category (Start-up)
2. a2i & SoftBD Limited’s Joint Project Eksheba in Inclusion and Community Services Category
3. St Joseph Higher Secondary School’s Project Sobjanta in Senior Student Category
4. ACI Agribusiness Project Fosholi in Industrial (Agricultural) Category
5. Zantrik Limited’s Zantrik 911 in Industrial (Transport) Category
This year 266 projects have competed with 15 Economies. On winning 1 Champion and 5 Merit Awards BASIS President has expressed his delirious delight saying, from April onward we launched a campaign for BASIS National ICT Awards. From there we have nominated the best 29 projects from 28 companies/institutions. After the successful end of BASIS National ICT Awards in August, we have trained the nominated projects for 1 month. Winning 6 Awards in Global Contest surely has uploaded Bangladesh to an immense height.
BASIS National ICT Awards 2018 Convener & Hon’ble Judge of APICTA Didarul Alam said, BASIS is working relentlessly for the improvement of ICT Industries. Alongside our members we are working for the betterment of Youths. Winning Championship in Senior Student Category has brought honor not only for BASIS but also for the whole of Bangladesh.
On 9th October 2018, APICTA 2018 has kicked off with a grand celebration. At the inaugural session host of APICTA’18, Chinese Coordinator of APICTA and Guangdong Software Industry Association (GDSIA)’s Secretary General Lyu Hui and APICTA’s Chairman Stan Singh delivered their remarks. Along with BASIS EC, BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir represented Bangladesh at the opening ceremony. After the inaugural ceremony, EXCO Meeting and Judges Meeting took place. From 10 October onwards formal judging session has begun. On 11 October Bangladesh delegation took part in Guangzhou Night. At that program Bangladesh delegation highlighted Bangladesh’s cultural heritage. Bangladesh delegation has also taken part in PWTC expo. On 13 October with Award Giving Ceremony & Gala Night this year’s APICTA came to an end.
This year, 81 delegates from Bangladesh have participated in this global event which took place from 9-13 October 2018. BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir lead the delegation. BASIS Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, Vice President (Admin) & Judge of APICTA Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Director & Judge of APICTA Didarul Alam, Bangladesh Coordinator in APICTA Mostafizur Rahaman Sohel, Judge of APICTA Abdullah H Kafi, Mr. Ehsanul Parvez, Joint Secretary (Organizational Support & Innovation Branch), ICT Division and Dr. Muhammed Mehedi Hassan, Deputy Secretary (ICT Promotion Section), ICT Division also joined Bangladesh Delegation.
