DHAKA: Country's ICT platforms have jointly conferred reception to Telecom and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT, for their re-assignment in the ministry.
The reception program organised by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing Organization (BACCO) and E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Monday (Jan 14).
At the reception program, the ICT-related platforms separately presented flowers and crests to Mustafa Jabbar and Zunaid Ahmed Palak for their appointment in the new cabinet for second terms.
Addressing the program, Mustafa Jabbar said “We have already prepared a 'take-off'. We will fly in the next five years… We will lead the world in the ICT sector… We're working now as if countrymen can use internet at lower cost”.
Meanwhile, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said “We are now working for declaring the ICT learning mandatory in prime education. In next five years, 25,500 digital computer labs, naming after Sheikh Russel, will be installed at different educational institutions. 21 laptops each will be provided to the labs.”
By 2020, the entire area of the country will be brought under broadband internet and under the project of ‘Internet for All’ everybody will be given internet access. Almost 1,600 government services will be digitized and around 20 lakhs youths will be employed in the sector, he further said.
