SUST: Bangladesh has a plan to launch its second satellite soon in a bid to establish more civilized, scientific and better society, said Planning Minister MA Mannan.
“The government, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been working for establishing a civilized, scientific and better society. So, we have a plan to launch second satellite soon,” the minister said.
MA Mannan was addressing a programme at Shahjalal University and Science and Technology (SUST) as chief guest on Thursday (Jan 17).
The government has also another plan to construct a new bridge on the Jamuna River and a tunnel under the river at Fulchhari village in northern region of the country, he added.
The first tunnel is being constructed under the Karnaphuli River.
Gradually, all highways in the country will be upgraded to four-lane ones, the minister also said.
Mentioning that the government is going to prepare an 80-year roadmap for the country’s development, the Planning Minister told students that this roadmap hopefully will be implemented through the contribution of the young generation like you.
The programme was chaired by SUST Vice Chancellor Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed.
