DHAKA: International body for domain control management ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has assured its all-out support to resolve the Joint Letter (Jukto Borno) problems of Bangla font in Unicode.
ICT ministry here disclosed the development in a press release issued Thursday (Feb 28).
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar attended a meeting with ICANN at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Wednesday (Feb 27).
ICANN assured the minister of necessary steps to resolve the existing problems in writing domain names and Bangla Joint Letters in Unicode, said the release.
The minister highlighted the difficulties while using Bangla letters in technological spaces and sought development of Bangla Unicode inscription.
ICANN CEO and President Göran Marby, Chief Technology Officer David Conrad and other higher officials were present, in the meeting.
However, the users won’t have to face anomalies to create domain names in internet and search engine usage typing Jukto Borno once the problem is solved.
