DHAKA: People from different parts of Bangladesh expressed their concern and dissatisfaction after failing to get information about severe cyclonic storm Fani as website of Bangladesh Meteorological Department is down since Thursday (May 2) noon.

The danger signal at seaports has created huge demand for information. So, we are experiencing huge traffic causing the crash of the site, said the met office. 

To get the update the cyclone Fani, website of the Department of Meteorological Department has downgraded after issuing 28th warning message of the danger signal number 7 at Mogla and Payra ports.

Calling in the phone number, but the number is not reachable as it was busy to entertain several calls at a time.

When contacted, meteorologist Omar Faruk said the severe cyclonic storm Fani has attracted huge interest. As there are so many hits, no one can access the website.

Efforts are going to restore the website, he added. He also advised journalists to keep up to date over phone call.  

Last reported around 9:00am this morning, the eye of the cyclonic storm stood 1,065km southwest of Chattogram port, 915 km southwest of Mogla port and 925km southwest of Payra. 

Meteorologist Omar Faruk at 3:45pm told Banglanews that the eye of the cyclonic storm stood 850km southwest of Mogla port which means it steps up to 65 kilometer in the stipulated time.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman, at a press conference at the Secretariat, said that the Fani could hit the coast of Khulna-Satkhira by 6:00 pm on Friday (May 3).
