একাধিকবার দেশ চালানোর অভিজ্ঞতা আছে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল বিএনপির। ভাবতে অবাক লাগছে যে, এই দলে সঠিকভাবে ইংরেজিতে চিঠি লেখার মতো কেউ নেই।

দুবাইভিত্তিক সংবাদপত্র খালিজ টাইমস’কে লেখা বিএনপির চিঠিটি পড়লেই পাঠকমাত্র আমার এই প্রশ্নের কারণ বুঝতে পারবেন। চিঠিটি এক কথায় ভুলে ভরা। এরকম একটি ভুলে ভরা চিঠিতে বিএনপির উচ্চ শিক্ষিত ভারপ্রাপ্ত মহাসচিব কীভাবে স্বাক্ষর করলেন?

আন্তর্জাতিক একটি সংবাদমাধ্যমকে লেখা এরকম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি চিঠিটিতে বানান বিভ্রাটের ছড়াছড়ি আমরা দেখতে পাই। তাছাড়া বাক্য গঠনের দুর্বলতার কারণে পরিষ্কার হয়নি বিএনপি আসলে কি বলতে চেয়েছে।
একাধিক স্থানে court লিখতে গিয়ে লেখা হয়েছে courl.
Verifying শব্দটির বানান লেখা হয়েছে Veriffing.
Unfortunately কে লেখা হয়েছে- Unforlunately
একটি বাক্য বিশেষভাবে লক্ষ্য করার মতো : “We have been surprised that a reputed newspaper like Khaleej Times should have published such allegations without veriffing with us or without quoting any reliable source.” এই বাক্যের মধ্য দিয়ে কোনো অর্থপূর্ণ কিছু বোঝা যায় কি?
একাধিক স্থানে রয়েছে ব্যাকরণগত ত্রুটি। যেমন- লেখা হয়েছে : The proceedings of the case in the Pakistan Supreme Court has been published by ihe Pakistan media.  Plural শব্দের ক্ষেত্রে has না হয়ে have হবে। the শব্দটি লিখতে গিয়ে ihe লেখা হয়েছে।
অস্পষ্ট দুর্বল বাক্যের আরো দু’টি নমুনা : Nowhere has the name of Begum Zia or the BNP been mentioned.

চিঠিটিতে একটি শব্দের সঙ্গে আরেকটি শব্দের স্পেস না থাকায় কোথাও কোথাও তিন-চারটি শব্দ মিলে একটি শব্দ হয়ে গেছে। বিষয়টি বুঝে পড়ে নিতে খালিজ টাইমস কর্তৃপক্ষকেই দেওয়া হয়েছে দায়িত্ব। নমুনা : Ziaistotally বা Party(BNP).She । খালেদা জিয়ার নামটি লিখতেও Khaleda থেকে  Zia আলাদা করতে পারেননি চিঠিটির লেখক।
ঠিক উল্টোভাবে অকারণেই স্পেস দেওয়া হয়েছে। যেমন DHAKA-1000 লিখতে গিয়ে লেখা হয়েছে DHAKA-1 000।   তারিখ লিখতে গিয়ে দিন মাস ও সালের মধ্যে কোনো স্পেস দেওয়া হয়নি। 2012 লিখতে মাঝের 1 না লিখে ইংরেজি অক্ষর I লেখা হয়েছে।
পাকিস্তানের পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের মুখপাত্রের কথা বলতে গিয়ে একবার spokesperson লেখা হয়েছে এর পরপরই আবার spokesman লেখা হয়েছে।

Sub: Contradiction about a published news item
Dear Sir,
Our attention has been drawn to a news item under the caption "Asghar Khan`s petition finally comes up for hearing" published in your daily on 3rd March issue this year.
The story contains a purported confession of the former Pakistan ISI Chief Gen. Durrani to the Pakistan Supreme Courl regarding funding to Bangladesh`s Khaleda Zia. This portion
of the report pertaining to Bangladesh and Khaleda Ziaistotally baseless, concocted, mischievous and fully ill motivated.
We would like to mention here that Begum Khaleda Zia has been elected thrice as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and is presently the Leader of the Opposition and Chairperson of the largest political party in our country the Bangladesh Nationalist Party(BNP).She is the most
popular living leader in our country. She has never taken any fund from any foreign source in any election or for any other purpose. In fact as a nationalist political party the BNP on principle does not believe in foreign funding.
Unforlunately many local and Indian media have published news items based on this concocted allegation against Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP. Our political opponents have used this to sully the image of Begum KhaledaZia and use it as a political tool.
We have been surprised that a reputed newspaper like Khaleej Times should have published such allegations without veriffing with us or without quoting any reliable source. This
has tended to tarnish the image of Begum Khaleda Zia and fame of this popular party.
The proceedings of the case in the Pakistan Supreme Court has been published by ihe Pakistan media. Nowhere has the name of Begum Zia or the BNP been mentioned.
In the meantime General Durrani has been interviewed by various media in Bangladesh where he has categorically stated that his statement does not include any individual or party outside Pakistan and that the story in Khaleej Times relating to this is falsely attributed to him.
It may also be mentioned here that a spokesperson of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry has clearly rejected allegations of the ISI providing funds to BNP. The spokesman termed these news reports as totally baseless and also part of mischievous efforts to damage Bangladesh -Pakistan
relationship.
We hope that under the above circumstances you would kindly publish our protest with due importance as well as an apology for the damage that has been caused by the false and baseless allegation that was published.
