TCB’s Smart Family Card launched

Trade Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin today (Jan 8) said Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) from now on will conduct its activities through 'Smart Family Card' instead of paper management.

He made the remark during inaugration programme of TCB's Smart Family Card for the lower income people in the capital's Tejgaon Begunbari area.

The adviser acknowledged the initial irregularities in TCB’s distribution system and emphasized the importance of digitization to eliminate corruption.

He said that 6.3 million smart family cards have already been distributed. The initiative aims to make both distribution and procurement more fair and inclusive.

Regarding market stability, Bashir Uddin highlighted that steps are being taken to monitor and stabilize rice prices and that the government plans to stock potatoes in cold storage next year to control prices.

Smart cardholders can now buy 2 liters of edible oil for Tk 200, 2 kg of lentils for Tk 120, and 1 kg of sugar for Tk 70.
