DHAKA: Bangladeshi expatriate businessman Iqbal Ahmed has recently received prestigious ‘UKTI Export Champion 2015’ award by the British government department working for trade and investment in the country.

Iqbal, chairman of Seamark, received the award for his outstanding contribution to the growth of export in the north-western region of the United Kingdom.

Iqbal Ahmed, also chairman of NRB Bank Bangladesh, established Seamark Group in Manchester in 1976.

Seamark PLC, a concern of the group, exports seafood and frozen food to around 60 countries. Besides, the group runs restaurants in the UK.

Earlier, Seamark PLC won ‘Queen’s Award’ in 1998.
