DHAKA: Stocks edged marginally lower Monday amid choppy trading as most of the investors are yet to be familiar on the newly introduced trading system.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went down further by 14.30 points or 0.29 per cent to close at 4,878.65 points from the previous session.
The two other indices also closed in the red. The DS30, comprising blue chips lost 3.60 points or 0.19 per cent to close at 1,804.45 points.
DSEX, the prime index of the major bourse of the country, went down to 4,878.12 points at 2:35pm during the end while it was 4,893.08 points at 10:30am.
Nevertheless, FUWANGFOOD topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 122.09 million having changed hands, after the trading.
The other turnover leaders of the major bourse were WMSHIPYARD, AGNISYSL, SQURPHARMA, OLYMPIC, BEXIMCO, KEYACOSMET, GP, BRACBANK and BXPHARMA.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a frozen index from the early hours of trading.
Sources told banglanews that the prices of most of the shares at the port city bourse did not hiked or went down between 11:15am and 2:30pm.
However, with its selective category, CSCX, the index was in 1,102.80 points in the morning while the trading begun and later was frozen in 1,099.00 points.
