DHAKA: The foreign exchange reserves of the country reached a new record Thursday crossing 22.37 billion by receiving highest remittances this year.
The reserve mark touched 22.37 billion US dollars, which is the highest level of preserving currency officially recorded after birth of Bangladesh.
The reserve has increased three times in last five years.
Remittances have already been emerged as a prime driving force to the economic growth and poverty alleviation in country.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman made the disclosure while addressing a program at BB conference room.
