DHAKA: The authorities of e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) declared 2015 as e-commerce year.
President Rajib Ahmed of e-CAB made the announcement while inaugurating e-commerce service at the National Press Club in city on Tuesday.
He said Bangladesh has at least 500 websites of e-commerce and other 3,000 pages with which people and organizations are selling their products and services.
Though Bangladesh has huge possibility and access in e-commerce, it is sad that the services are not well-known to common people of the country.
However, the e-commerce services are limited in Dhaka and Chittagong. But, to give pace in this service firstly it should be spread in the remote areas.
The e-CAB declared the following year as the year of e-commerce to make the target fulfilled.
Information Technology expert Mostafa Jabbar said the declaration is a positive sign for the e-commerce sector. As a result the sector will be benefited and also the service will be popular among common people.
Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) president Akhtaruzzaman Manzu, e-CAB director (Government Affairs) Rezwanul Haque Jami and e-CAB standing committee chairman Sarah Zita were present in the inauguration program.
However, Sarah shared the objectives and activities of the service centers and their planning about the e-commerce year.
