DHAKA: Shop owners have already incurred a loss of Tk 3,000 crore per day due to ongoing nationwide blockade called by BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Bangladesh Shop Owners’ Association (BSOA) claimed it on Saturday at press conference in city’s New Elephant Road area.
The businessmen said 25 lakh shop owners across the country counted loss worth Tk 3,000 crore in a day for the blockade.
Consumers are avoiding shopping without buying daily essentials. So, many shoppers have become bankrupt to meet-up their daily expenses.
The life of about one crore owners-employees of shop and more three-crore dependent on them across the country is uncertain, they added.
With BSOA chairman SA Kader in the chair, association Secretary General Shah Alam, Dhaka Metropolitan Shop Owners’ Association president Toufiq Hasan, general secretary Kamal Hossain were, among others, present at the press meet.
