DHAKA: The World Bank (WB) will provide 375 million US dollars for setting up some 556 shelter centers in nine districts of the country.
An agreement, under Multi-Purpose Disaster Shelter project, was signed between Bangladesh and WB at Economic Relation Department (ERD) conference room in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Monday.
Senior secretary Mohammad Mejbahuddin of Economic Relations Division and WB country director Johannes Zutt signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
According to the agreement, some amount of the money will be spent to repair 450 centers and to build 550 kilometers connection road as well.
Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will implement the project by January 2015 to December 2021.
