DHAKA: A workshop on the corporate governance for banks in the country, jointly organized by Bangladesh Bank and IFC Bangladesh, was held at a city hotel on Saturday.

The workshop titled ‘Revisiting Corporate Governance for Banks in Bangladesh’, was attended by Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman; IFC Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal country manager Kyle Kelhofer; IFC global manager corporate governance Darrin Hartzler and IFC corporate governance specialist Lopa Rahman.

Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Shitangshu Kumar Sur presented the keynote paper on the corporate governance regulations while discussants from the private sector included Bank Asia director Rumee Hossain, Supreme Court advocate Barrister Sheela R Rahman and United Commercial Bank Ltd vice-chairman Sharif Zahir.

More than 70 high level board members of commercial banks attended the program and exchanged their views.
