DHAKA: The manpower market of Saudi Arabia for Bangladeshi workers has been open from Sunday.
However, it had been stopped since 2008.
Deputy Minister for International Affairs of Saudi labor ministry Dr Ahmed F Alfahaid informed the matter to M Shahidul Islam, Bangladesh ambassador to the Kingdom on the day.
Counselor (Pol) M Mosharaf Hossain of Bangladesh embassy issued a press release in this regard.
The Saudi deputy minister conveyed the matter by saying that the approval has been received from Saudi Royal Court.
He also informed the Bangladesh embassy that a high level Saudi delegation comprising of representatives from the concerned ministries is expected to visit Bangladesh probably in a week to formulate modalities of the recruitment.
The announcement of the opening up of the Saudi labor market for the Bangladesh manpower is a huge diplomatic success for Bangladesh, the release added.
It also said that the opening would be considered as a milestone in the diplomatic achievement in the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
The opening up of the Saudi labor market for Bangladesh workforce will provide enormous potential for the employment of professionals, skilled, semi-skilled and un-skilled manpower in various sectors of the Kingdom.
