DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Wednesday inaugurated a four-day exposition of textile and garment machineries at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital.
The minister in his inaugural speech said that Bangladesh has immense possibilities in textile industry.
He, at that time, also urged the businesspeople to invest more in this sector.
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Atiqul Islam, in his speech, requested the government to ensure a business friendly political environment for the sake of development.
On the other hand, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) president Tapan Chowdhury hoped that textile industry can earn at least 50 billion USD by 2021 if all necessary demands are met.
However, a total of 880 machineries manufacturers from 33 countries have participated this year’s exposition, jointly organized by BTMA, Chan Chao International Co., Ltd from Taiwan and Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co., Ltd from Hong Kong.
BTMA has been arranging the exhibition for 12 years.
The fair will remain open from 12:00 noon to 8:00pm to all till February 7.
