DHAKA: Business people across the country demanded ban on hartal and blockade as they are incurring huge losses daily.
Businessmen carrying national flags took position for 15-minute on the main road at Motijheel in the capital protesting ongoing hartal and blockade.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) president Kazi Akram Uddin led the protest.
Kazi Akram said, “Country faced Tk 75,000 loss due to ongoing political sabotage. 87 people killed, over 200 burned by petrol bombs, rail way faced sabotage and 1000 vehicles were vandalized.”
“We have the potentiality to raise GDP to 8, but political turmoil pulling us behind to 6,” he added.
Besides, new recruitment has been stopped as it has become difficult to keep existing employees due to ongoing loss, he further said.
FBCCI president, on behalf of business community of the country, urged the government to formulate law banning hartal.
