Businessmen against hartal-blockade

DHAKA: Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Atiqul Islam urged the political parties not to play with country’s economy so that they can run their businesses smoothly.

He was addressing a token hunger-strike program in front of BGMEA Bhaban at Karwan Bazar on Saturday.

The business leader also observed that the prevailing political crisis should be politically solved immediately.

He said, “We were carrying on our protest program peacefully but miscreants hurled cocktails on the businessmen’s token hunger strike.”

“Please do not attack on us as none will be able to control the situation if we come on the street.”

Earlier in the day, two cocktails were hurled at the protest program, organized by the people involved in readymade and textile sectors in front of BGMEA building in the city that blast left two injured.
