DHAKA: The World Bank underscored the need to improve the situation by solving the current political crises if Bangladesh wants to achieve the status of a mid-income nation.
Besides, the government should offer long term benefits to the private sector.
World Bank vice-president for South Asia region, Annette Dixon made the comment in a meeting with Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor Dr Atiur Rahman at the bank’s Headquarters in the city on Tuesday.
World Bank’s country director Johannes Zutt and BB deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury were among others present at the meeting.
Annette Dixon told the journalists that she had a talk with the governor about the economic stability and private sectors’ investment.
Moreover, she said that the government has already assured about the gradual improvement of political situation.
It would not affect the country’s economy, Dixon hoped.
