CHITTAGONG: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday afternoon inaugurated the Radisson Blu Bay View Hotel, the maiden ‘Five-Star’ hotel, in Chittagong.
Motorcade of the premier, from Chittagong Cantonment, reached the hotel near MA Aziz Stadium in the port city at 2:17pm.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) assistant deputy commissioner (south) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Earlier on the day, a helicopter carried the premier from Dhaka to Ramu for attending a military program there.
However, the 22-storied hotel building has been constructed on an area of about 4.18 acres having 249 rooms with all of its modern amenities of which there are special suites for VIPs like the President and the Prime Minister.
The first five floors of the hotel have a space of 86,000 square feet each while the other floors from the sixth have 20,000 square feet each.
However, there are plenty of modern facilities in the hotel such as swimming pool, vast area for car parking, long-tennis courts, disco thick, mini-shopping mart, banks, etc.
Construction work of the eye-catching architectural edifice, ‘Radisson Blu’, starting in July 2011, came to an end after almost three and half years.
The commercial operation will begin from April 14, ‘Pahela Baishakh’, the first day of Bangla year, the authority informed the media.
