Stocks witness fall Wednesday

DHAKA:  Investors witnessed significant fall in benchmark indices of the country’s bourses--Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)--on Wednesday.

DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, shed over 63.57 points only to stand at 4585.72 at the close on the fourth trading day of the week.

Trade deals stood at 95,602 with volume of transactions at Tk 3102.84 million.

Of the issues traded, 43 advanced, 134 declined and 31 remained unchanged.

However, the top 10 gainers of DSE were NORTHERN, SHASHADNIM, ACI, 8THICB, BATBC, DBH1STMF, EBLNRBMF, 6THICB, AMBEEPHA and KOHINOOR.

Nevertheless, SHASHADNIM topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 240 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were SPCL, IFADAUTOS, LAFSURCEML, ACI, GP, CVOPRL, SQURPHARMA, SAPORTL and HEIDELBCEM.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8509.08 by dropping over 105.07 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 30 gained, 174 declined and 30 remained unchanged.
