DHAKA: A non-government research organization on Wednesday said that Taka about 288 crores is estimated as loss everyday in agriculture sector due to the political unrest in the country.
The organization INCIDIN Bangladesh made the disclosure at a press conference held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in city’s Segun Bagicha area on the day.
The organization’s executive director AKM Masud Ali said that the farmers have been suffering dire consequences due to the ongoing political crises.
He added that the chain of productions and marketing of agricultural goods has been affected. Owners of dairy farms are pouring milk on road as they could not sell it.
Showing the research, Masud said that 70 percent of 17 thousand rice mills across the country are now closed.
According to the research, farmers have been facing losses of Taka about 288 crores everyday created by the political unrest for over 2-and-a-half months, said INCIDIN Bangladesh boss.
If the losses of poultry and frozen food are counted then it will total Taka about 310 crores everyday, he added.
