Fair draws shoppers’ attention

DHAKA: The ongoing 4-day ‘Thailand Week 2015’ was drawing the attention of a good number of visitors at Bashundhara International Convention Centre in the city’s Khilkhet area on Saturday.

At the fair, 50 stalls were setup to showcase seven categories of Thai products such as auto parts and accessories; construction metal and machinery equipment; food and beverage; garments, textile, knitwear and fashion accessories and health, beauty, household and stationery products.

Visitors were mostly seen gathering at the stalls selling products for women. Thai shop-owners were seen talking with smiling faces with the visitors. Many visitors were also seen interested in daily essentials and kid’s products.

Almost every product was presenting the craftsmanship of Thai manufacturers. Many of those products were for interior decoration. Even, cosmetic products had the touch of newness.

The Convention Centre had apparently turned into a ‘mini-market’ of Thailand since the inauguration of the fair, featuring Thai cultural shows along with demonstrations of Thai and other cuisines.

The fair had been able to satisfy the visitors and the buyers. Razia Begum of Mipur, who bought a handbag and handmade ornaments, told banglanews that she had used Thai products earlier that seemed good to her.

For this reason, she purchased several products from the fair and said that lots of quality products were there.

Shop-owners also expressed their satisfaction over the show. Shahabuddiin Russell, proprietor of Thai Gift Shop, told banglanews that he had been selling Thai products in Bangladesh for a long.

He did not received any complain on quality.

Rather demands of the products are increasing day by day, he opined.

The proprietor was also pleased as they got response from visitors and buyers at the fair as much as they desired.

However, the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Thai finance ministry, the commerce ministry, and Thai embassy in Dhaka jointly organized the four-day trade-show, to be closed on Saturday night.
