VU Mobile unveils beacon mobile marketing platform

DHAKA: VU Mobile unveiled their beacon mobile marketing platform called AdPlace in a launch event attended by leading digital agencies and brands.

Beacons are small pieces of hardware — small enough to attach to a wall or shelf — that use battery-friendly, low-energy Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections to transmit messages or prompts directly to a smartphone or tablet using an Android or iOS mobile application.

AdPlace provides retailers/marketers with a complete online solution for creating, managing and analyzing proximity-based mobile marketing campaigns using beacons.

VU Mobile will provide the beacon devices and a full cloud-based solution for the management of the beacon devices, campaigns and analytics. This solution is a first of its kind in the Bangladesh market inaugurated by VU Mobile who also operates AdPlay, one of the leading mobile ad networks in Bangladesh.

Ms. Nabila Amin, Director of VU Mobile, said that, “AdPlace is the first ever comprehensive beacon marketing solution in Bangladesh where beacons are the missing link between the digital and the physical world." Ms. Amin also highlighted how the AdPlace platform can help retail owners particularly with respect to real-time location-based marketing, enhancing brand loyalty, increasing mobile app usage and gathering invaluable shopper data.

Addressing the occasion, VU Mobile’s Chief Business Officer, Ashish Bavishi said that, “Proximity marketing platforms like AdPlace uses beacons to help advertisers convert the shoppers into buyers.”

Invited attendees were shown a demonstration of the how beacons work with mobile devices and the various type of ads that can be served through it.
