DHAKA: A two-day ‘Bangladesh Denim Expo’, to draw the attention of international denim producers and purchasers, will begin in city on May 11.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the exposition at Hotel Radisson Blu Water Garden on the day.
Moreover, state minister for foreign affairs Shahriar Alam will be present on the concluding day of the show.
The fair organizer and also Denim Expert Limited managing director Mostafiz Uddin informed the media that the upcoming show will aim to uphold the country’s denim production ability to the international arena.
Proceeds from the exposition will go to the establishment of a university on denim industry, he added.
At least 25 denim and jeans producing firms from the USA, Spain, Japan, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, China and San Marino will participate at the show, said Mustafiz.
Besides, several readymade garment entrepreneurs, businesspeople and professionals of fashion industries will attend the fair.
However, Denim Expert Limited and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will jointly organize a seminar titled ‘Made in Bangladesh: A New Reality Vision-2021’ among the four seminars during the exhibition.
Bangladesh is currently being considered the second largest denim exporters in Europe and third in the USA.
According to him, about 834 million USD have been invested in 25 denim industries in the country.
