DHAKA: Bangladesh will send 20,000 workers to Saudi Arabia before Ramadan though visas for 30,000 laborers have already been received.
Expatriate Welfare Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain told reporters after a meeting with the delegation of Saudi Arabia on Thursday afternoon.
The minister said the Saudi Arabia pressed its demand for 50,000 female workers from Bangladesh. 100 recruitment agencies were asked for the collection of 200 workers each as we can send the workers in time in accordance with their demand, he added.
Visas have already reached for 30,000 workers. However, Bangladesh finally will send 20,000 female workers to Saudi Arabia in the coming month, the minister further said.
Regarding human trafficking, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said they only work with legitimate workers, not deal with illegal workers. Ministries of Home and Foreign Affairs deal with the matter. A mixture of legal and illegal will create confusion.
However, the Expatriate Welfare Ministry has connection with Ministries of Home and Foreign Affairs, he clarified.
